Season 2 Trip 1 – Sucia Island

This weekend we had our first outing of the year on the boat, 2 nights at Echo Bay at Sucia Island. Not counting the test drives with the mechanic, this is trip #13, also known as Season 2, Episode 1. This was the 25th and 26th nights that we have stayed on the boat. Being our second year with the boat, and our first real trip, this was our shakedown cruise for 2022. (See 2021 shakedown)

The new turbo ran great, with no clouds of diesel smoke billowing out of the boat like we had last season at speed.

The new turbo.

After 7 months of winter, engine work, and overall boat refitting, it was good to be on the boat again.

The autopilot was awesome, to keep a course without having to continually adjust the steering. Very nice.

Having the NSS 9 on the flybridge hooked into the rest of the onboard Simrad network was nice too. No more leaning into the pilothouse to see the chartplotter.

Things worked well we did discover that we were missing a few things in the galley, but overall we were well prepared.

Our Saturday night dinner was ribeye steak, salad and roast potatoes on the BBQ. Dinner provided by Alex.

The new tow-behind dinghy/tender worked well.

The picture above shows the faux teak down the middle of the boat, it will look great once we finish that off.

After getting called in to a couple of work related items, the on board internet worked well and allowed us to continue the weekend without having to go home. Although I did earn the nickname of DBA on a yacht from one client. The internet speed was really good on the north side of echo bay, but just not usable at the south side of bay. Here are my onboard network speeds on the north side of Echo Bay.

The boat was looking good with a great deal of time spent recently waxing.
