Sandy Point Harbor Entrance on a low tide

This week we had some of the lowest tides in 15 years.

Here is some video that I shot of our harbor entrance at a -4 tide. 3 parts, one right at the low tide, one 30 minutes later, and the third 70 minutes after the low. Because the entrance is so narrow, the water never completely drains to the -4 level inside, and it continues to drain for an hour or two after the low.

Part 1 – Right at low tide.

Part 2 – 30 minutes after the low. The water continues to drain.

Part 3 – 70 minutes after the low tide, water still draining.

This goes to show why it is so important for us to plan our our arrivals and departures around the tides.
