A Rough Ride to Sucia Island
Today we had a rough ride from Sandy Point to Sucia Island. We were out in swells that were 4ft to 6ft in height. Our direct route to Sucia would have put us parallel to the waves which would have rolled us over, so we had to go in a zig-zag pattern heading into the waves, then away from the waves back and forth. This was the longest 8 mile trip from home to Sucia Island that we have ever had. The waves were coming out of the northwest and once we tucked in south Matia and Puffin island things really calmed down.
When we arrived at Fossil Bay the docks were mostly full, with about 40ft of space on the end of one of the docks. We pulled in, pivoted 270 degrees and landed smoothly on the dock. Made use of our annual parks pass to not have to pay moorage today.
Things were very calm in Fossil Bay with Sucia Island blocking a majority of the wind. We had a nice BBQ dinner and sunset on the fly bridge then off to bed.
