3 Nights in Ganges

by

We had planned on staying 2 nights in ganges but the weather shifted on us and we stayed 3.

We stayed on the Kanaka government dock, which was very centrally located in the town of Ganges. This was our first time staying on the government dock, and the harbormaster Russ was very helpful. Although they don’t take reservations, we called ahead and arrived around 11:00am just as other boats were leaving. Each day it looked like the docks cleared out about 8:45 to 10:30am, and were full by 11:30 to noon. So if you are planning on staying at the government docks in the busy season, arrive early.

Here are 2 photos taken from the boat approximately 24 hours apart. What a big difference a day can make.

While in Ganges, Marcia had time to do some laundry, which was certainly needed. Although the Ganges laundromat was a bit different.

One of our favorites at Ganges is Mobys. We took the dinghy from the Kanaka government dock over to the Saltspring Marina. I phoned ahead and the specifically said that the inside docks where dinghy docks available for visiting Mobys. Once we go there and we talked to the dock staff the referred to the dingy dock space as fictional, and didn’t believe that we were allowed to stay their while visiting Mobys, by even so they gave us the gate code so that we could come back to the dinghy after dining at Mobys.

Here is the view from Mobys. Our dingy is the one visible between two of the dock pilings, in about 8 inches of water.

Mobys never disappoints, the food was good.

That was about enough time for Ganges and we were ready to move on.
