I have been on the wait list for the Starlink internet provided by SpaceX, and today I had the opportunity to pre-order a Starlink system. However since it is a pre-order they say it may be up to 6 months wait time on the delivery. Hopefully it will be available by summer, but if not I will at last have it for next year. Elon Musk was quoted as saying regarding using it on a boat that “Yeah, that will be relatively easy, as so few users out in the ocean.”.

Speeds have been touted at averaging 80Mbps down and 17Mbs down with low latency. With some speeds reaching 150mbs. That would be comparable to what I have at home with Comcast and would allow me to work from the boat anywhere that we get a signal from the Starlink low earth orbit Satellite system.

I think that with a combination of the MOFI cellular network and the the SpaceX Starlink internet we should be pretty covered for connectivity on the boat.
