Holding Tank Vent Filter installed
Every time we flush the toilet, the holding tank filter would let out a horrible stench of sewage smell. Ever after doing some cleaning on the holding tank, filling it full of water and flushing it out a couple times it still had a bad smell.
We even purchased the Tank odor eliminator pods, which seemed to help, but did not entirely eliminate the odor as expected by their advertising.
After doing some research, I discovered the concept of the holding tank vent filter, and the one I decided to go with was the Voker Filtration holding tank vent filter.
This was easy to install, I just had to remove everything I had stored under the bar sink to open the access panel to get to the inside of the vent hole. From there I removed the hose from the inside of the vent hole, and attached that to one end of the new filter.
Next I attached 2ft of new 5/8″ hose to the filter and attached the other end to the vent hole.
Here is the instruction sheet that shows how it all goes together.
We will find out on our next outing if the tank flushing, new chemicals and vent line filter do the job to eliminate the sewer smell on board. The filter is about $50 US, and it is good for about a year. If it turns out to do the job then it is certainly worth it. I will follow up after our next trip to see if things smell better.
