Season 2 Trip 2

2 nights at Sucia Island, and 1 night at Stuart island makes 29 nights that we have stayed on the boat so far.

We started out Thursday evening heading to Sucia Island with calm weather, then Friday the storm picked up with 30 mph winds, and then calm again on Saturday with sunshine, then Sunday on the way home we had fog and rain. A very mixed variety of weather.

Here is our anchoring location in the corner of Echo Bay at Sucia island.

Then the same location on Friday when the weather picked up.

Saturday before the storm we took the tender for a quick trip to Patos Island.

We noticed there are no longer state park mooring buoys at Patos Island.

Saturday we headed to Stuart Island where the dock was mostly open when we arrived.

Sunday we headed towards home and spent the afternoon on Matia Island, which like Patos no longer has any mooring buoys.

View from the dock at Matia Island.

The fog rolled in while we were at Matia, and fortunately had the Simrad autopilot, radar, and chart plotters with new CMAP charts installed to get us home. I have a difficult time when steering in the fog to keep a straight course, but engage the autopilot and it keeps you right on track, and using the radar we could spot all the other boats, logs and obstacles.

A great trip, even though the weather was a bit challenging. It is nice to be comfortable enough on board even when the wind and rain pick up.
