LED Lighting – Phase 1
Over the weekend while staying at Roche Harbor, I had some time to finish the install of what I am calling Phase 1 of our outside LED lighting.
I had previously run 12v power to the upper panel in the pilothouse above the main windows. For those about 6ft tall, that is the area that you would hit your forehead on when standing at the helm and leaning forwared. I drilled a hole in the pilothouse roof overhang right at the port side corner near the windows so that it is protected form rain. From there the ends of the LED strips go into the pilothouse for power.
I then used alcohol and paper towels to clean the areas where the LED strips were going to go. Under the pilothouse roof overhang, across the front windows, then down both sides, above the pilothouse doors, then under the overhang along the salon windows. Most of the way the lights are fairly protected from rain.
Here is how the lights look at night.
