After seeing a boat very similar to mine burn a week ago in the same harbor as mine, I decided it might be a good idea to upgrade the smoke alarms so we would be able to respond quicker if there is a boat fire. At least to be able to respond before it gets to the condition below.

Also after a close call last year with our power cord arcing and overheating.

We already had a decent onboard smoke / co detector that meets the legal requirements and will do a good job of alerting anyone onboard, we had no way of knowing when we are not on the boat.

So after doing some research I find these online. Since we already have wifi on board, these seemed like a good choice.

I installed one in the VIP stateroom, one in the master stateroom, and one in the pilot house. I hope that the one in the pilot house doesn’t get tripped when we are cooking.

With an app on my phone that will alert me if there any issues. While I was mounting one of the smoke alarms I accidently hit the test button and that even triggered an alert on my phone.
