Shakedown Cruise to Anacortes
We just finished the shakedown cruise to Anacortes this weekend with the Bellingham Yacht Club.
Keeping track, this was 118th and 119th night that we have been on board since we purchased it.
The boat was a bit dirty being our first trip out, so we did some washdown once we were on the dock, and now it is in great shape.
We had a great time at the sailboat races that the yacht club sponsered, here is the sailboat that I built with last minute things we had on board When I tested the boat it was fast and did really well, but then when we launched as a group it got hung up with a couple other boats that all jammed ujp on the start. It was a good design and a poor launch on my part for the race. There is aways next year to get it right.
It was a beautiful weekend, and we had a great time.
While there we were able to get our courtesy inspection by a local power squadron member, confirming that we have all of the required and safety items on board, to be ready if we are ever inspected by the coast gaurd. I was fortunate to discover that 2 of my fire extinguishers had expired and I ran to West Marine nearby to get relacements. We passed the check with no problems.
