Moved to Winter Storage

The dock that we keep the boat on for the warmer months doesn’t have power so we rely completely on solar an the occasional use of the generator when on the dock. Now that we are approaching the cold season we moved the boat to a different dock for the winter with power available to keep the boat warm and dry.

The first thing we plugged in when we had shore power was the new dehumidifier. This is a 22 pint dehumidifier that is designed for a 1500 sq ft area. In the first 24 hours the onboard water tank (.8 gallons) was full, so instead of using the onboard tank I screwed a garden hose onto the back hose fitting to allow the water to drain into the bilge. The hose on the back should let the dehumidifier run indefinitely without filling up the on board tank.

In that first 24 hours the humidity went from 82% down to 60%, and the boat just felt significantly dryer.

Full tank after 24 hours.
