New Tender For Our Adventures
After our first year on the 4788, we decided that we needed a bigger dinghy / tender. The 11ft rigid bottom inflatable just was not big enough for fishing, shrimping, or crabbing.
Also with the issues that we have with the marina entrance where we keep the boat there may be times that one of us has to come up while the other stays behind to bring the 4788 in the next day. We decided that what we wanted to go with was a 16ft outboard center console. We had originally considered a Robollo, however there isn’t much inventory available right now and the wait time for new boats is months.
We found a 16ft Campion Explorer with 1 90hp outboard for sale just up the street from our house, and decided that it would meet our needs. Big enough to fish from, or to make a trip to the San Juan Islands, but small enough to tow behind.
It is a few years old, but in really amazing shape. I figure if we get 1 or 2 years out of the outboard then we can repower it, and still not be too far in budget wise.
After purchasing we made a trip to West Marine, and loaded up on more wire, a new Garmin chartplotter, fuel filters, and a load of accessories to get this boat into shape.
The boat even came with downriggers and a crab puller. Ready to convert this into the fishing machine.
