A Day of Fishing and Scenic Beauty: Toba Wilderness Marina to Walsh Cove

Today, we embarked on another leg of our incredible journey, leaving behind the tranquil beauty of Toba Wilderness Marina and setting our course for Walsh Cove. But before we delve into the details of our trip, it’s worth mentioning the delightful surprise we encountered at Toba Wilderness Marina: the new managers, Paul and Nahanni.

Upon arriving at Toba Wilderness Marina, we were immediately struck by the improvements that Paul and Nahanni have made since taking the helm. The marina, already a gem in the wilderness, now shines even brighter with their thoughtful touches and dedication to providing a top-notch experience. From the well-maintained facilities to the welcoming atmosphere, it’s clear that Toba is in excellent hands. Paul and Nahanni’s warmth and passion for the area made our stay all the more memorable, and we left feeling not just impressed but truly grateful for the time spent there.

The new showers and updated restrooms were a great improvement.

After bidding farewell to Paul and Nahanni, we set out to do some fishing before continuing our journey. The water was calm, and the anticipation was high as we cast our lines. We had some luck, catching several fish, but they were all a bit too small to keep. Then came the one that might have been big enough—a thrill of excitement as it tugged on the line—but alas, it didn’t make it into the net. Fishing is always a mix of skill and luck, and today luck seemed to be playing coy.

Here is our fishing and shrimping route for the day. 22 miles to cover what could have been 5 direct. But whats that old expression, it is about the journey, not the destination.

While fishing we did encounter another waterfall on the Toba Inlet, quite a spectacular site.

Not deterred, we decided to set our shrimp pots, hoping for a bounty tomorrow. The thought of fresh shrimp on the menu has us eagerly awaiting the morning.

With our pots set and the sun beginning its descent, we made our way to Walsh Cove. The journey was smooth, and as we approached Walsh Cove, the scenery took our breath away. The cove is surrounded by rugged cliffs and dense forest, creating a serene and secluded anchorage. It’s the perfect spot to end a day of adventure on the water.

As we settle in for the evening, we can’t help but reflect on the day—filled with the joy of meeting new friends, the thrill of the catch, and the promise of tomorrow’s shrimp haul. Walsh Cove is the ideal backdrop for these reflections, offering a peaceful end to a day well spent.

Tomorrow, we’ll check our shrimp pots and continue exploring this stunning region. For now, we’ll enjoy the calm of Walsh Cove, grateful for the experiences that today brought.
