Day 7: Grace Harbour to Susan Islets with a Bounty from Okeover Arm

Setting Sail from Grace Harbour

Our journey today began in the serene Grace Harbour, a place we fondly remember for its warm waters, our first stern tie anchoring experience, and the delicious Grace Harbour poke nachos we enjoyed last night. The waters were calm as we set off, the morning sun casting a golden hue over the landscape.

A Stop at Okeover Arm Provincial Park

Our first stop was Okeover Arm Provincial Park. This park is a gem, nestled along the coast, and it’s well-known for its rich marine life. Marcia was particularly excited about this stop because it meant she could harvest some of the region’s famous oysters and clams. Equipped with nothing but a bucket and large screwdriver, she waded into the shallow waters, returning with a generous haul that promises a sumptuous dinner tonight.

The Journey to Susan Islets

The journey from Okeover Arm to Susan Islets was a pleasant one, covering a total distance of 11.1 miles today. This brings our total distance traveled on this trip to 222.3 miles over the last seven days. The weather was perfect, and the waters were as welcoming as ever. As we approached Susan Islets, we were struck by the tranquility of the area.

Anchoring at Susan Islets

Arriving at Susan Islets, we found ourselves in a secluded anchorage. It’s always a special feeling to have such a beautiful spot all to ourselves. As we dropped anchor, we noticed a curious seal nearby, popping its head above the water to observe us. It was a delightful welcome to our new temporary home.

Preparing for Dinner

With the oysters and clams Marcia harvested earlier, we are looking forward to a fantastic dinner tonight. There’s something incredibly satisfying about enjoying a meal sourced directly from the waters we sail on.

Reflections on Our Journey

Today was a perfect example of what we love about our boating adventures. The combination of beautiful scenery, the thrill of harvesting our own food, and the serenity of secluded anchorages makes for unforgettable experiences. As the sun sets, painting the sky with shades of orange and pink, we are reminded of how fortunate we are to be able to explore these stunning parts of the world.

Final Thoughts

With 11.1 miles added to our journey today and a total of 222.3 miles covered in the past week, we feel a sense of accomplishment and anticipation for what lies ahead. Each day brings new discoveries and memories that we will cherish for years to come.
