Echo Bay Marina: A Two-Day Adventure in the Broughton Archipelago

Our journey through the Broughton Archipelago brought us to the serene and secluded Echo Bay Marina, situated on the north side of Gilford Island at the east end of Cramer Passage. The marina, surrounded by the rugged beauty of the islands, offered a perfect retreat for our two-night stay.

Here is route to get here travelling 29.2 miles yesterday for a total of 483 miles on the trip so far.

A Night to Remember

The first evening at Echo Bay was nothing short of magical. We joined our Bellingham Yacht Club group for a surf and turf potluck on the docks. The evening was filled with laughter, delicious food, and a shared sense of adventure as we recounted the highlights of our travels.

As the sun set, casting a warm glow over the marina, an unexpected delight unfolded. Two boaters, who had only just met, brought out their instruments and began to play together. What started as a casual jam session quickly turned into a lively dockside concert. The music echoed across the water, creating an atmosphere that was both spontaneous and unforgettable. It was one of those serendipitous moments that remind us why we love life on the water.

Day Two: A Fisherman’s Dream

With such a memorable first night, we’re excited for what today holds. Our plan is to check the crab and shrimp traps we set in the surrounding waters. Echo Bay is known for its abundant marine life, and we’re hopeful that our efforts will be rewarded with a fresh catch.

In addition to crabbing and shrimping, we’re also setting our sights on salmon fishing. The waters around Echo Bay are renowned for their salmon, and we’re eager to test our luck. The thrill of reeling in a salmon is always a highlight, and with any luck, we’ll be dining on our catch later tonight.

The Echo Bay Experience

Echo Bay Marina is a special place—more than just a waypoint on our journey, it’s a destination that offers a unique blend of natural beauty and a sense of community among boaters. Whether it’s sharing a meal on the docks, enjoying live music under the stars, or simply taking in the breathtaking surroundings, Echo Bay has a way of making each moment feel extraordinary.

As we prepare to continue our voyage through the Broughton Archipelago, Echo Bay will undoubtedly stand out as a highlight of our trip. Here’s to hoping our traps are full and the fish are biting as we embrace the adventures that await in this remarkable part of the world.
