Fishing Along the Way

As we sailed towards Grace Harbour, we decided to try our luck with some fishing. The waters were calm, and the scenery was breathtaking, providing the perfect backdrop for a relaxing day on the boat. Unfortunately, despite our best efforts and a few promising bites, we didn’t catch anything legal to keep. It was a bit disappointing, but the thrill of the chase and the beauty of our surroundings more than made up for it.

First Stern Tie Anchoring this Trip.

Upon reaching Grace Harbour, we made our first stern tie anchoring of the trip. This method of anchoring involves tying the stern (back) of the boat to the shore while the bow (front) is anchored in deeper water. It was a bit tricky at first, but with some teamwork and patience, we managed to secure our boat safely. This technique not only kept us steady but also allowed us to get much closer to the shore, giving us easy access to explore the area. This usually involves Marcia on a paddleboard taking the stern tie rope to shore.

Swimming in Warm Waters

One of the highlights of Grace Harbour is its surprisingly warm waters. After the anchoring was complete, we couldn’t resist taking a dip. The water was inviting and perfect for a refreshing swim. Floating in the warm, clear water surrounded by the natural beauty of Desolation Sound was a truly magical experience. It was the perfect way to unwind and soak in the serenity of our surroundings.

Grace Harbour Poke Nachos for Dinner

As the day came to a close, it was time to refuel with a delicious dinner. We decided to get creative and make Grace Harbour poke nachos, invented today by Marcia. This delightful dish featured tuna and shrimp, perfectly ripe avocado, and a generous drizzle of spicy Sriracha sauce. The combination of flavors and textures was incredible, and it was the perfect meal to end our day. Enjoying our poke nachos on the boat, with the setting sun casting a golden glow over the harbour, was a moment to remember.

Our trip to Grace Harbour in Desolation Sound was filled with new experiences, beautiful scenery, and delicious food. Despite not catching any fish to keep, the journey was a success in every other way. From our first stern tie anchoring this trip to swimming in warm waters and savoring a unique and tasty dinner, every moment was special.
