Day 33: Tenedos Bay to Okeover Arm
Tenedos Bay to Okeover Arm – A Feast from the Sea
Today marked Day 33 of our journey, with just about a week left before we head home. Our travels took us from the peaceful anchorage at Tenedos Bay to the Okeover Arm Government Dock, covering a smooth 14 miles. The day was perfect for cruising, with calm waters and a gentle breeze accompanying us along the way.
As we sailed, the scent of fresh bread began to fill the entire boat — Marcia had decided to make the most of the tranquil conditions by baking a sourdough loaf. There’s something incredibly comforting about the aroma of bread baking on board, and it made us even more excited for tonight’s dinner.
Upon our arrival at Okeover Arm, we didn’t waste any time. Both Marcia and I were eager to explore the shellfish beds that I had heard so much about. It wasn’t long before we both reached our limit on oysters and clams, a rewarding haul that will form the centerpiece of our meal tonight.
The combination of freshly harvested shellfish and Marcia’s homemade sourdough promises a feast that truly reflects the spirit of our journey. It’s not just about the miles we’ve covered or the beautiful landscapes we’ve seen; it’s about the experiences we’ve created and the way we’ve connected with the natural world around us.
As we prepare to sit down to dinner, there’s a sense of accomplishment and contentment. The fresh oysters and clams, paired with warm sourdough bread, are the perfect way to celebrate another successful day on the water. With just a week left on this incredible journey, moments like these remind us of the simple pleasures that make this adventure so special.
