Ganges – Trip Night 38

Journey from Clam Bay to Ganges: A Day of Exploration on Salt Spring Island

As our incredible journey nears its end, today’s leg took us from the peaceful Clam Bay to the lively town of Ganges on Salt Spring Island. Covering 19.4 miles, we’ve now boated a total of 1,003 miles, marking the final full day of our adventure before we head home tomorrow.

Salt Spring Marina

After our smooth cruise, we arrived at Salt Spring Marina, our chosen spot for the night. This marina instantly impressed us with its charm and facilities—much nicer than the Ganges Marina where we had stayed on a previous visit. The docks were well-maintained. The serene surroundings provided a perfect setting for our last night away.

Exploring Ganges by Bike

With our boat securely docked, we decided to make the most of the day by taking our bikes for a spin. Ganges is a bustling town with plenty to see and do, and cycling is the ideal way to explore its winding streets and scenic paths. We rode through town, soaking in the vibrant atmosphere of the local shops, cafes, and art galleries that make Ganges a unique destination.

From there, we set off on a ride towards Vesuvius, BC, a small, picturesque area on the island’s northwest side. The ride was invigorating, offering stunning views of the island’s lush landscape and the surrounding waters. The gentle hills and quiet roads made for a perfect afternoon of cycling, allowing us to experience a different side of Salt Spring Island.

Reflecting on the Journey

As the day drew to a close, we returned to Salt Spring Marina, feeling a mix of satisfaction and nostalgia. The journey has been long and filled with unforgettable moments, and it’s hard to believe that tomorrow we’ll be heading home. Tonight, we’ll savor our last night on board, enjoying the peaceful marina and the memories of the miles we’ve traveled.

Today’s short journey from Clam Bay to Ganges brought us closer to the end of our epic voyage, but it also reminded us of the joys of discovery that have defined this trip. With 1,003 miles behind us, we’re ready to head home tomorrow, our hearts full of the experiences and sights that have made this journey so special. Salt Spring Island has been a fitting final stop, offering both beauty and adventure on this last full day of our travels.
