Day 1-2: Sucia Island – The Journey Begins

Our 19-day boating adventure through the San Juan Islands started on the picturesque Sucia Island. Nestled in the northern part of the archipelago, this island welcomed us with its serene beauty and tranquil anchorages. We spent our days exploring its rugged coastline, hiking its scenic trails, and soaking in the breathtaking views of the surrounding waters. It was the perfect start to our voyage.

Day 3-6: Lopez Island – A Long Weekend Retreat

Next, we made our way to Lopez Island for a delightful long weekend. Known for its friendly community and laid-back atmosphere, Lopez Island offered a charming escape. We cycled through the island’s rolling landscapes, visited local farms, and enjoyed leisurely picnics by the shore. The island’s quaint village and stunning sunsets made our stay truly memorable.

Day 7-9: Jones Island – Peaceful Solitude

After our relaxing time on Lopez Island, we sailed to Jones Island for a two-night stay. This small, uninhabited island is a hidden gem in the San Juans. With its lush forests and secluded coves, Jones Island provided a peaceful retreat. We hiked the island’s trails, watched deer grazing in the meadows, and enjoyed the solitude and tranquility that only a remote island can offer.

Day 9-13: Roche Harbor – A Nautical Haven

Our next destination was the vibrant Roche Harbor, where we docked for several nights for the Bayliner Rendezvous. This bustling marina is a favorite among boaters, and it’s easy to see why. With its historic buildings, upscale amenities, and lively atmosphere, Roche Harbor offered a perfect blend of relaxation and entertainment. We indulged in delicious seafood, and witnessed the nightly Colors Ceremony, a charming tradition at the harbor.

Day 13-16: Prevost Harbor – Nature’s Embrace

From the hustle and bustle of Roche Harbor, we sailed to the serene Prevost Harbor on Stuart Island for a three-night stay. This secluded anchorage is surrounded by lush forests and pristine waters, making it a haven for nature lovers. The peace and natural beauty of Prevost Harbor were truly rejuvenating.

Day 16-19: Friday Harbor – Island Life at Its Best

As our journey continued, we made our way to Friday Harbor for a two-night stop. This vibrant town on San Juan Island is the hub of the archipelago. We strolled through its charming streets, reprovisioned on some groceries, dined at the San Juan Yacht Club. The harbor itself was a sight to behold, filled with boats of all sizes and surrounded by scenic views. Friday Harbor’s lively energy and welcoming community left a lasting impression on us.

Day 19: Sucia Island – The Perfect End

Our adventure came full circle as we returned to Sucia Island for the final leg of our trip. Revisiting this beautiful island felt like coming home. We spent our last days reflecting on our journey, doing some on board clean-up, and savoring the peaceful ambiance of Sucia Island. It was the perfect place to conclude our incredible 19-day boating adventure through the San Juan Islands.

As we motored back home, our hearts were full of unforgettable memories and a deep appreciation for the natural beauty and unique charm of the San Juan Islands. This trip was a true testament to the magic of exploring by boat, where every island offered its own story and every moment was an adventure.
