Solar Panels Back On For The Season

Today with some help from George, we reinstalled 6 of our 8 solar panels for the season.

We remove them each winter to keep them from getting destroyed. Where we keep the boat in the winter we have shore power, but where we keep the boat in the summer we do not have any shore power.

The solar panels are enough to keep the house batteries charged and to keep the refrigerator and surveillance cameras running from May until October.

The solar panels are all connected into a MPPT that is then connected to the house battery bank.

The controller has a bluetooth interface for monitoring and changing settings.

This is our third year using these flexible solar panels that I purchase from Sun Powered Yachts 3 years ago.

Previously we had mounted the solar panels on the pilothouse roof, but with the addition of the new fly bridge hard top that gives us much more room for the solar panels.

I have two more panels to install that I may put on the pilothouse roof, or I may wait until we install the flybridge roof behind the radar arch.
